Hanoi Cinemas Finally Allowed to Reopen After Nine Months

Earlier this week, city authorities gave official permission for all cinemas and art venues to resume operations.

Following a proposal by the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, the public venues can now operate according to specific safety guidelines. Guests will be required to provide proof of having had at least two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, wear face masks, and practice proper social distancing. The spaces had been closed since May 5 due to the pandemic situation.

The move comes amidst a broader reopening of the capital city. Motorbike services can now resume operations after a six-month ban with tight restrictions, and the Hung Pagoda complex can welcome guests beginning February 16. On February 8, 118 out of 121 bus routes in the city were allowed to resume at full capacity.

A quick peek at local cinema schedules reveals they will screen a mixture of new releases and popular films that were released during the period of closure.
